Yes — our barbers are experienced with all curl patterns, from loose waves to tight coils. Every curly hair appointment starts with a consultation to understand your curl type, how your hair shrinks when it dries, and what styles actually work with your texture.
How is cutting curly hair different from cutting straight hair?
Curl shrinkage is the biggest factor — curly hair can shrink 30–50% when it dries, so cutting it wet and cutting it dry produce completely different results. A barber who understands curly hair accounts for this before the first cut. We also shape around the natural curl pattern rather than forcing a straight-hair technique onto texture that won't hold it.
What haircuts work best for curly hair?
The right cut depends on your specific curl pattern and how much length you want to keep. Wavy hair typically does well with layers that remove bulk without killing the wave. Curly and coily hair benefit from a tapered shape that maintains structure as it grows. Your barber will walk through your options during the consultation — you don't have to come in knowing exactly what you want.
Should I come in with my hair wet or dry?
Come in with your hair in its natural state — ideally dry or air-dried so your barber can see your actual curl pattern and shrinkage before making any decisions. If you use a lot of product, wash it out before your appointment.
How much does a curly hair cut cost at Kingdom Barber Studio?
Haircuts start at $40 for a standard cut and $45 for a new client appointment, which includes extra time for a full consultation. If it's your first visit, we recommend booking the New Client Haircut so your barber has time to properly understand your hair before starting.
